Necropolis?

Changing at Bank station is about as difficult as daily life gets for many in London, but our city has a long history of disease, crime, poverty, betrayal and death to be proud of (if proud is indeed the right word).

Necropolis – London’s Journey of the Dead attempts to honour this during the Halloween season, exploring the many factors that led to more dead bodies than there were graves in the 1850s.

Corpses during this time were in plentiful supply – in fact, they had to be stored underneath streets before being carted out to Surrey on the Necropolis Railway for burial.

Venture into the caverns of Waterloo where this process was once carried out in an immersive tour that is as gory as any Halloween fan could hope for.

It’s happening from October 30th until November 1st and tickets cost £15 on the door. They can be purchased in advance for a discounted price.ADNFCR-8000138-ID-801755444-ADNFCR
