Dia de los Muertos – Bargehouse Oxo Tower London

Long before the West had even considered carving pumpkins, Mexico has been honouring the deceased with an annual Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos). It’s been going on for 3,000 years, and this year, it will be celebrated in London at Bargehouse.

The event, brought to us by the Embassy of Mexico, will include an exhibition of pieces by contemporary artists that have been crafted with the festival in mind. But don’t expect to see an abundance of skulls and zombies – Dia de los Muertos is primarily an occasion for remembering deceased loved ones.

Additionally, there will be a tribute to those lost in World War I, daily screenings of 1984 cult classic Under the Volcano and Jose Cuervo tequila masterclasses, for those looking to get a bit tipsy during Halloween.

It’s an event for children too, however, with opportunities to paint masks and learn about papel picado in a series of free workshops. Get along to Bargehouse in Oxo Tower Wharf between October 30th and November 2nd for all the fun and games.ADNFCR-8000138-ID-801755443-ADNFCR
