The Exorcism
From 14 December

exorcism

Christmas Day. Edmund and Rachel have invited close friends Dan and Margaret to their idyllic cottage over the festive period. The mood is one of celebration with a lavish feast, when suddenly there is a power cut. The atmosphere changes rapidly and events become stranger and then frighteningly scary. Have they drunk too much? Are they hallucinating? Is the house haunted with a terrible past?

The Exorcism first aired as a ‘live’ play on television in 1972 and was widely described as the most frightening piece of TV drama ever shown. The suspense will have you gripped to your seats and the story will literally chill you to the bone.

Winifred Wilmot Exhibition

Until December 2014 the gallery is showcasing the work of Rugby-based artist Winifred Wilmot. Art exhibitions are free to see.

Winifred has been hooked on art since the day her primary school teacher put her first piece of work – a painting of a red boat – on the classroom wall.

In her teens she attended the Rugby School of Art, and in 1990 she enrolled on a Foundation Course at the East Warwickshire College of Art: a wonderful experience, and one which helped to broaden the way she felt about her painting.

During that time she became interested in 3D work, and achieved a National Diploma in Art & Design and also a Certificate in Advanced Ceramics. After leaving college Winifred shared a studio in Rugby with four other ex-students for five years, above the Rod Waspe Shop & Café.
In her earlier years Winifred’s paintings were mainly traditional landscapes, industrial scenes, animal portraits and floral pictures, but she has now moved on to the abstract, observing the patterns created by nature. She likes to use bold brush strokes without losing structure to create convincing, subtle and interesting compositions that are vibrant in both colour and strength.

She has received numerous awards and commendations for her work which has been widely exhibited including two solo exhibitions of paintings, ceramics and sculpture at the Rugby Library Gallery.
