Heritage Rally – classic cars and trains – 7 June

This year’s nostalgic Heritage Rally, which will take place on Sunday 7 June, is all about Classic Cars and Steam Trains. The Rally, which is now sponsored by Wroxall Abbey Hotel & Estate, is now in its third year and is organised by the Heritage Motor Centre for vehicles aged 20 years or more. The Tulip Route is created by Geoff Ives with marshalling also organised by Geoff and marshals courtesy of the Porsche Club GB.

The day starts at 9:00am at the Heritage Motor Centre for registration, briefing and a look around the Museum, home to the world’s largest historic collection of British cars. The first cars leave at 10:30am with routes available of between 50 and 70 miles. There will be a checkpoint and photo opportunity at the historic Wroxall Abbey Hotel & Estate, the former country seat of Sir Christopher Wren, before the cars make their way through the beautiful Warwickshire and North Cotswold countryside to Toddington Station on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.  There is plenty to see and do at the train station, including a Loco yard viewing area. For lunch there is a picnic area or the Flag and Whistle tea room.

Those on the Run will board the Steam Train at 2:40pm for the 24 mile round trip through glorious Cotswold scenery. The train ride includes a short stop at Cheltenham Race Course Station. On arrival back at Toddington Station there will be a short presentation including a number of special fun awards of which the categories and details will be announced later.

John Bishop, Groups & Rallies Senior Co-ordinator at the Heritage Motor Centre said “The Heritage Rally is a great social event and is an absolute must for historic rally enthusiasts. For many it might be the first time they have joined a Run as no previous experience is required and for others it is one of the highlights in the Rally events calendar.”

There is a special early bird offer if pre-booked before 1 May. For a car, driver & passenger the cost is £49. Additional passengers are £12 per person. Under 5s are FREE.  If pre-booked after 1 May the cost for a car, driver & passenger is £55. Additional passengers are £13 per person. The cost includes a Rally Plaque for the car, Tulip Route, entry to the Heritage Motor Centre, the Steam Train ride from Toddington Station to Cheltenham Race Course Station and return to Toddington.
